St. Barnabas Episcopal Church
Constructed of sandstone harvested from quarries in the surrounding areas, the existing 1897 sanctuary serving the Parish of St. Barnabas Episcopal Church deserved the utmost attention and respect during the design of a new Parish Hall, Narthex and new classroom spaces. The new portions of the project adopted the traditional forms and scale of the existing building but the materiality of the new forms and their positioning on the site allow the sanctuary to remain the star. Located on the edge of downtown Tullahoma, Tennessee upon a land locked campus, it was important that the proposed design utilized all portions of the site in a graceful way. The courtyards created minimize the impact of the connections of the new structure to the existing.
