BEECHCRAFT HERITAGE MUSEUM
Master Plan
Located in Tullahoma, TN, The Beechcraft Museum consisted of a series of non connected administrative, exhibit and storage|restoration buildings. Gilbert McLaughlin Casella architects worked with the client to program a direction for needed exhibit and entertainment space. The solution was driven by the opportunity to create an enhanced visitor experience through the linking of new buildings to existing and the opportunity to create a central courtyard. This courtyard housed exhibits on a regular basis but also is planned to be utilized for performances to generate an alternate revenue stream for the museum. A ten foot change in grade between some of the buildings was required to be addressed. This challenge was overcome by utilizing an interior and exterior ADA compliant ramps to place the visitor at different visual vantage points to experience the exhibited aircraft. Meeting facilities were designed to accommodate local use but also to allow for support of the Beechcraft Festival held each October.
