The design for this addtion to an existing residence includes elements designed to extend living and entertaining areas outdoors, including a screened porch with pivoting doors, a terrace that spans the length of the house, an outdoor kitchen and bar area, and a swimming pool that includes a shallow sunning pool and spa. Faced by the challenges of the site, the result is a linear swimming pool that serves as a reflecting pool and cool oasis. The combination of new elements becomes an extension of the existing house and ties together indoor spaces with a yard that was previously disconnected.
