COUNTRY RETREAT
This residence is located in the rural setting of Marshall County, Tennessee. The placement of the house on the site, the views from it, and its connection to the land were paramount in the design process. The residence sits atop a gentle rise in order to secure the best views of the property and employs a dry-stacked stone fa'ade to emphasize a connection to the rocky, natural setting. The Courtyard is defined by two porches that frame a spectacular view to the wide open spaces that stretch away from the back of the house. At the end of the Courtyard, a two story Jewelry Studio, with its fa'ade of windows and glass block, lights the Courtyard like a lantern. The Greatroom's soaring ceiling and grand stone fireplace are matched by tall windows that offer access to the Courtyard and an uninterrupted vista of the rolling hills and woods that surround the house. The result is a home not merely in its setting, but part of its setting.
