LECTURE HALL
@ American Baptist College
American Baptist College is located on the banks of the Cumberland River. The site for the lecture hall is the existing stone shell of the old boiler building on campus. The old roof was removed and a new roof and building were designed to house a much-needed 250-seat lecture hall. The roof structure was designed in such a way as to keep the space open and unobstructed by columns. The design includes a memorial garden at the back terrace looking out towards the Cumberland River as a reminder of a past time when students were forced to hide down by the river in order to worship. There is also a Founders' Garden that serves as an anchor for the Timeline Wall. The wall runs along a walkway that ties together the other buildings on the grounds while marking monumental events for a school that produced many of the major leaders of the Civil Rights Movement and many valuable leaders of our time.
