THE CHAPEL
@ Father Ryan High School
The chapel building at Father Ryan High School is a constant visual symbol of the core mission of this private Catholic institution, and is considered to be the most important building on the 40-acre campus. As the focal point of the campus, it was important that the renovations to this building capture and maintain the spirit of Father Ryan High School. The scope of this project involved a complete renovation of the chapel interior and mechanical systems and the removal and redesign of the existing roof and framing. The understated interior design uses natural materials to provide a serene environment and to direct attention to the altar in the front of the space. The chapel lighting is supplemented by clerestory windows in the new roof design, which both allow indirect light to filter into the chapel during the day and also turn the roof of the chapel into a beacon at the center of campus at night.
